AS FOUNDER OF ORANGE COUNTY’S ILLUSION CYCLES IN 1999, RUSTY'S CHOPPER EMPIRE SPANS FAR BEYOND THE REACHES OF THE ORANGE CURTAIN, AMONG HIS CELEBRATED CLIENTELE IS KURT SUTTER, CREATOR OF THE HIT SHOW “SONS OF ANARCHY” ON FX CHANNEl.

SUTTER COMMISSIONED Rusty TO CREATE A CUSTOM CYCLE FOR FX, THAT WAS LATER DONATED TO THE WOUNDED WARRIOR FOUNDATION, A BUILD DOCUMENTED ON THE SOA SEASON 3 DVD. AFTER SEEING THE INCREDIBLE SOA BIKE COMPLETED, SUTTER THEN ACQUIRED HIS OWN CUSTOM ILLUSION BIKE. THUS WAS BORN AN ILLUSION HELLRAZOR WITH A 114-CUBIC-INCH ENGINE, ALL THE FIXINS, AND SOME SPECIAL SUTTER REQUESTS TOO. Coones’ notoriety has reached new levels as of late, with his appearance as a recurring character on the hit Discovery Channel show “The Devil’s Ride”, which highlights Rusty “being Rusty”. There are a couple episodes filmed at Illusion Cycles and another episode which features a performance by Attika7. But it hasn’t always been a smooth ride for Coones, also a ranking member of a notorious 1% motorcycle club, the name of which is boldly tattooed on his forearms. Coones was accused of a conspiracy to sell a listed chemical. Subsequently imprisoned for 8 years in a federal penitentiary, a grassroots website campaign was taken up by Rusty’s wife and many of his friends. Even TV Bike Builder Jesse James would often wear FREE RUSTY T-shirts on his show. FREE RUSTY t-shirts are now collector items in the m/c world, if you are lucky enough to have one!
It was the unforgiving environment of prison walls and the vacuum of a jail cell in which Coones began to write music and play guitar. Rusty created the foundation for Attika7, and ultimately, came out the other side with a positive message. Rusty now puts his efforts into positively reinforcing the image of the biker community whether through his television work, his work at Illusion Cycles, or the myriad of charitable events he works on and endorses. Rusty has come full circle. And as he enters any room, his presence is immediately noticed. Truly a gentle giant with more yet to offer as Illusion Cycles continues to grow.

For those who don't know her, K.O. is co-owner of Illusion Cycles, Rusty's wife. She is one of the most loyal people you will ever meet, and my friend.
K.O. was raised in Huntington Beach, CA. In the spring of 1987, she met Rusty. Their romance was a tale of 'beach bunny falls in love with biker'. They had lots of adventures together. Then, in 1999, Rusty got caught up in some legal trouble and their relationship was put to the test when Rusty went away for 6 years. K.O. kept Illusion Cycles alive and running, and also started "Free Rusty.com", a website that became a hub of contact and support for bikers all across the country. Her goal remaining firm, to have Illusion Cycles ready to go when Rusty, her husband came home from prison.
In the often rough and tumble world of outlaw bikers, K.O. has found a unique role. She softens the hard edge of 'men and machines' in the shop. The store front of Illusion Cycles is K.O.'s domain. Apparel, accessories, and jewelry adorn the boutique. When you visit Illusion, you will be greeted by K.O.'s friendly smile, keen wit, and disarming charm. Just know that underneath the sweet beach blonde exterior, you will find more heart, courage, and loyalty than a wild lion.

Attika7 is a metal rock band from southern California. Members are founder & famed motorcycle builder who is lead guitarist, songwriter Rusty Coones. Evan Seinfeld is front man singer, formally of BioHazard and has done over 4000 shows all over the world. Tony Campos plays bass (Soulfly, Ministry, Static-X). Rhythm guitarist Zack Broderick played with Non-Point and drummer Tommy Holt played for U.P.O. This metal band is considered a “super-group”, all extremely talented and virtuoso’s in their individual crafts.

While we are performance conscious we always advise our clients to use balance when installing performance products on their motorcycles.

The proper camshaft selection for the street is important. Cruising the streets and highways our v twins are running at 2000-4000 rpm over 90% of the time. Most racing camshafts aren't in their performance range at the lower rpm's on the street and don't develop horsepower until in the higher rpm ranges. We use cams that develop power in the 2000-4000 rpm range and run smoother at low rpm's. The result is a smoother running bike that performs well where your motor lives 90% of its life.
